Staff Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to join our finance team at a growing orthopedic practice with annual revenue of $320 million and a workforce of 2,000+ employees. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and a desire to grow within a dynamic organization. Key Responsibilities:

  • General Ledger Maintenance: Assist in maintaining accurate general ledger entries, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and ensuring all transactions are recorded in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Month-End and Year-End Close: Support the month-end and year-end close processes by preparing financial statements, reports, and supporting schedules. Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial reports, including balance sheets, profit & loss statements, and cash flow statements. Provide accurate data to assist management in decision-making.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Assist with the management of accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
  • Account Reconciliations: Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all discrepancies are identified and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Audit Support: Provide necessary documentation and support for internal and external audits. Collaborate with auditors to resolve any discrepancies or issues that arise during the audit process.
  • Financial Analysis: Assist in analyzing financial performance, identifying trends, and preparing variance analysis reports to support budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Compliance and Internal Controls: Ensure compliance with all accounting and financial regulations, maintaining strong internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements within the accounting department and participate in initiatives to streamline workflows and enhance efficiency.
 

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably within a healthcare or large-scale organization.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Experience with Sage is a plus.
    • Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
    • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while managing individual responsibilities.
  • Certifications: CPA or in-progress is a plus but not required.
 

Preferred Skills:

  • Prior healthcare industry experience
  • Familiarity with financial reporting and regulatory compliance in a healthcare setting.
