Due to internal progression, we have an exciting new opportunity within our Finance team! Reporting directly to the Head of Financial Accounts, we are on the hunt for a new Senior Financial Accountant.

You will be instrumental in assisting and supporting the Head of Financial Accounting in all aspects of financial accounts and reconciliations alongside any other ad-hoc projects.

What you’ll be doing:

• You will work closely with the wider accounting team to ensure that all financial ledgers are reconciled on a periodic basis whilst ensuring that balance sheet reconciliations are completed by Management Accountants and Financial Accounts teams.

• The Senior Financial Accountant will also be responsible for processing payroll upload files whilst providing the necessary information to Midland HR and Arriva Rail London’s payroll department to allow them to reconcile the relevant payroll accounts, and to produce payroll reports.

• You will assist the Head of Financial Accounting in the design, planning and implementation of any ad-hoc projects for streamlining the financial accounting function.

• Preparation of the year-end file and tax pack for external auditors will also be a key part of this role, liaising with the auditors and tax advisors ensuring that all information requested is provided in a timely manner.

• You will also be responsible for developing and updating Accounting Policies and procedure documents when required, continuously improving the financial accounting procedures whilst supporting the Finance and internal auditing processes keeping compliant.

• The Senior Finance Accountant will also be required to prepare reconciliations for Payroll control reconciliations including annual leave provisions and pensions, group relief and any other debtor and creditor control accounts as appropriate.

• You will complete the Arriva Group reporting on a monthly basis whilst also supporting with the preparation of Cashflow and Balance sheets for management accounts reports and review of Cashflow reporting for the Finance Director and Group Treasury.

What we need from you:

• This individual will need to have experience working within an accounting position, with previous experience, responsibility for production of monthly Management and Financial accounts.

• You will need experience using Microsoft Office software an will ideally have experience using Navison but this isn’t essential. Any experience of system development or implementation would be highly advantageous.

• The Senior Finance Accountant will also need to have strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail

• Experience liaising with Auditors would be highly beneficial as well as strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels.

• You will need to have excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage own workload and prioritise effectively.
