The Senior Manager Business Finance position is a critical role that serves as the focal point for periodic profit/cash flow budgeting, forecasting and business performance analysis and reporting activities for the Olefins business within the Olefins and Polyolefins NA segment, with eventual expansion to include Business Finance related consolidation and oversight for the O&P Americas segment. Olefins generates ~$10.2B annual revenue with an EBITDA of $1.3B (2022 results). This position will be considered a financial planning expert with a span of knowledge extending across the segments product lines, facilities, etc.  In addition this position will participate in the review, compilation and distribution of financial information to senior executives on a monthly basis and is a critical liaison on all working capital and budget/plan related issues. He/she acts as focal point for General Ledger/SAP accounting issues as they relate to properly assigning costs and revenues to cost centers and profit centers, and provides guidance to members of the Finance department often through the process of coordinating a joint work product.

A Day In The Life:

  • Provide overall financial support to Business VPs and Segment; includes all modeling for the Olefins NA business.  
  • Evaluate the business P&L and Balance sheet as part of the monthly close process to monitor data integrity and investigate any significant variance.
  • Provide variance analysis of business results versus targets for appropriate periods; prepares short, medium and long-term forecasts for income statement, balance sheet and cash flow.  
  • Responsible for delegating to and coaching staff of two to ensure an optimal level of support for the businesses and indirectly coach and mentor other business finance managers and analysts within O&P.  
  • Lead/manage projects to improve the reporting processes and accuracy. Ensures that the financial information reported, properly captures and reflects business activities.
  • Assists in the execution of annual business planning and LRP process. Completes analysis, modeling, and research to support financial projections. Partners and solicits insight from business and commercial stakeholders.
  • Oversight of O&P Americas working capital management and forecasting.  Partner with Treasury, Supply Chain, Credit, Sales & Marketing, and CAO organizations to identify opportunities related to Working Capital position.
  • Assist in the financial analysis of business opportunities and strategy such as acquisitions, divestitures, significant expansions and financing activities.
  • Ensure accounting of business results are compliant to LYB accounting policies.
  • Work with the business to identify and measure KPI’s.
  • Coordinate and lead fixed cost planning processes and actively support VEP initiative. 

Value You Bring:

Education:

  • BA in a financial/business field or relevant experience with twelve or more years of financial or business analysis experience preferred, although high potential individuals may be considered with less relevant experience.
  • MBA, CPA, CFA or equivalent experience preferred.

Work Experience: 

  • Typically 12+ years of experience in a multi-entity, complex global environment. 
  • Experience in Petrochemical or relate industries is a plus.
  • 3Experience using ERP and Financial Planning systems (SAP, Oracle, OneStream).

Skills:

  • Ability to work independently and within a team to solve problems, drive continuous process improvements and exhibit strong analytical, evaluation and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with proficiency in mentoring, team development and project planning.
  • Ability to assert innovation and creativity to improve business and functional processes and reporting whilst adhering to a strong control environment.  
  • Advanced PC skills, including spreadsheets, database, graphics, statistical forecasting, and modeling.
  • Good understanding of accounting principles and financial performance indicators (e.g. margin, ROCE)
  • Attention to detail to ensure accounting and financial information is timely, accurate and complete.
  • Understanding of macroeconomic and microeconomic market conditions along with company fundamentals to make business, customer and cost structure recommendations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities (multiple tasks) and support business unit management with sound business and financial counsel while constantly challenging to drive the team to optimize results
