Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Senior-level Biologist and Regulatory Specialist to support marine and coastal projects. This position is based in AECOM’s Oakland office and would support a variety of important projects throughout the United States.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Act as senior technical lead for project environmental permitting focused on marine and coastal resources, including species regulated by NOAA and USFWS.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams as well as strategic insights on complex regulatory situations.
- Collaborate on large project and program efforts, and potentially lead smaller efforts to capture new work, including tracking future opportunities, supporting proposal efforts, and providing technical leadership for pursuits.
- Utilize a background in biology and regulatory compliance to oversee and review technical memorandums, permitting documents, and other technical reports.
- Mentor and advise staff to develop technical skills and identify career development opportunities.

Qualifications
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in biology, Ecology, or a related field plus 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education of in-depth knowledge of marine and coastal species and habitats.
- Valid U.S. Driver's license is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with complex regulatory permitting for marine and coastal resources.
- Experience as a task lead or project manager on marine or coastal projects.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with both clients and internal staff.
- Experience as a senior reviewer of technical reports.
- Good organizational skills and a strong detail-oriented work style.
- Experience as a technical lead, providing oversight and guidance to junior and mid-level biologists and other technical staff.
Additional Information
- Due to the nature of the role, U.S Citizenship is required.
- Exempt Position: Offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $170,000.00.
