    Boeing Defense, Space & Security has an exciting opportunity for a Mid-Level NDT Quality Test Specialist - Ultrasonic to join the Quality team in Berkeley. MO.


    This position will be working in a dynamic team supportive team within a shop floor environment using automated and traditional systems, evaluating collected data, making accept/reject decisions. Ideal candidates will have the ability to interpret blueprint requirements and have the capability of supporting and/or developing inspection procedures. Successful candidates will have experience in NAS410 standard, be an effective communicator, and be able to work across multiple diverse functions, including partnering with engineering teams.

    The Nondestructive Test Technician Level 2 is responsible for performing and overseeing nondestructive testing (NDT) procedures in accordance with NAS410/BSS7698 standards. This role is critical in ensuring the integrity and safety of aerospace components and systems. The technician will utilize various NDT methods, including but not limited to ultrasonic, eddy current, radiographic, magnetic particle, and dye penetrant testing, to detect defects and ensure compliance with industry standards.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Have the skills and knowledge to set up and standardize equipment, conduct system performance checks, process parts, interpret and evaluate for acceptance or rejection, and document results.
    • Successfully obtain the formal training hours required for any method where certification is being pursued, and any additional add-on formal training required by the company based on the demands of the business.  (e.g. Computed Tomography training).
    • Be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the technique and/or method in which they are certified.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of NDT procedures and work instructions.
    • Have the skills and knowledge to conduct system performance checks in accordance with the applicable process standard.
    • Be familiar with the codes, standards, and other contractual specifications that control the Method used at their Site.
    • Be capable of providing the necessary guidance and/or supervision to trainees and Level 1 personnel in the technique and/or method in which they are certified and applicable safety protocols.
    • Have a basic knowledge of relevant product manufacturing and inspection technology.
    • Maintain NDT equipment and ensure it is calibrated and functioning correctly.

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Guides the development or improvement of non-destructive inspection or test techniques.
    • Develops, deploys and implements tests or inspections and data collection techniques utilizing evolving technology.
    • Develops program specific non-destructive testing documents.
    • Develops and implements processes and procedures for new or revised non-destructive testing methods.
    • Audits, validates and approves systems and techniques of suppliers and processors.
    • Develops certification training and examinations.

    Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

    • 3+ years of experience with NDT Quality Testing
    • Current NAS 410 or equivalent Level II Certification in Ultrasound method

    Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

    • Current NAS 410 or equivalent Level II Certification in Radiography (RT) method
    • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Experience performing eddy current (ET), radiographic (RT), magnetic particle (MT), and/or penetrant (PT) testing in accordance with industry specifications/standards
    • Experience working with AS9100 and/or similar QMS standard

    Typical Education & Experience:

    Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor+1 years' related work experience, 5 years' related work experience, etc.).
