About the role
Job Summary:
The Instructional System Designer operates with considerable autonomy in course design and cross functional collaboration to lead development, design, and delivery of talent development content to ensure employees maintain or improve job skills and are current with industry standards and regulations. This position reports to the Manager, Corporate Training and Development and supports the Manager in strategic planning, deployment and maintenance of assigned enterprise professional development initiatives.
- Function as an instructional design team lead to ensure a meaningful collaboration with cross-functional teams, including product management, field teams, curriculum experts, platform developers, and other subject-matter experts (SMEs) to develop high-quality talent development materials.
- Develop new learning content, update existing content, and work collaboratively with eLearning development team to convert learning into an online format.
- Function as liaison between Corporate Training and Development and assigned centers of learning to support their department’s professional development initiatives. This includes developing a training strategy, developing/updating their learning content, and converting the training for delivery on the LMS platform.
- Serve as second level administrative support for the learning management system (LMS). This includes, but is not limited to creating and publishing courses/classes/curriculum, creating and maintaining audiences, creating prescriptive rules, and reporting.
- Incorporate best practices in adult learning theory and eLearning development into all professional development materials, identifying skill gaps and formulating learning objectives with actionable materials to deliver results.
- Supervise the production process with video and marketing teams to develop and update professional development materials.
- Drive field communication and enablement to internal teams to ensure they are prepared to deliver comprehensive and engaging professional development events. Provides training and technical support to internal and external end users.
- Deliver virtual and/or in-person training as needed.
- Devise modes of assessment, such as tests or quizzes, to measure the effectiveness of the course

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED), or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background
- 3+ years’ prior relevant experience in Instructional Systems Design preferred
- 3+ years’ prior relevant experience developing and/or delivering operations training (dockworker, driver, supervisory, administrative) preferred
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) required
- Strong written, verbal, listening and presentation skills required
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and organizational skills required
- Ability to read, write and speak Spanish fluently a plus
- Some travel may be required
- Experience with online learning management systems and e-learning, course authoring software is preferred
- Experience with talent development programs, learning management systems, process improvement, and project management preferred.
- Experience with Saba Learning preferred.
- Knowledge of and proficiency in research, analysis and reporting methods preferred
- Must be able to lift approximately 20 lbs., or more if required by the essential functions of the job
- Must be able to comply with all company policies, rules, procedures and Code of Conduct
- Must be able to interact well with others
- Must be able to work independently, or in a team setting
- Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high volume environment with multiple priorities
- Responds well to questions; Ability to read, interpret and comply with written information and documents such as safety rules, operations / procedure manuals and maintenance instructions with a high comprehension and concentration level to include the ability to meet deadlines
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, random drug and/or alcohol tests, and will be subject to a criminal history background check
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
