Why this role exists

Revio needs a backend specialist who can scale Revio software to other platforms like LinkedIn, Whatsapp and scale our real time chat engine without sacrificing performance, security, or developer happiness.  You’ll be the second backend hire, working directly with the Revio CTO—your design decisions set the standards the next five engineers will follow.

The Job: Senior Backend Engineer – Laravel + MongoDB 

• Ship code that turns 1B monthly chat messages into revenue for the world’s leading creators.

What You’ll Do:(first 12 months)

• Design & build Laravel APIs. Craft clean, versioned REST/GraphQL endpoints, leverage Eloquent + MongoDB, and write maintainable service layers.
• Own MongoDB data models. Optimize queries, design indexes, and champion data-integrity + backup strategies for a write-heavy workload (1K msgs / min peak).
• Integrate 3rd-party services. Facebook/IG Graph API/Whatsapp API, LinkedIn Reverse Engineer REST API, whatever moves the needle.
• Automate quality & deployment. Write PHPUnit tests, set up GitHub Actions, and improve CI/CD with deployments.
• Mentor & collaborate. Lead product backlog, review PRs, and share lightning talks in our weekly tech huddle.
• Pair with the CTO on schema reviews, spin up proof-of-concept queues, jump into prod to diagnose latency spikes.

We Want You If You Have:

• 3+ years of professional PHP (Laravel 10+) on production SaaS or high-traffic apps
• Strong MongoDB schema design & aggregation pipelines
• Expert in RESTful design, knows when GraphQL shines
• Habitual test writer, SOLID, DDD, clean-architecture mindset
• Git + modern CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Docker, LaravelForge)
• Clear written & spoken English; thrives in async-first teams
• Knowing how to code in Python is a must

Bonus points:

• Hands-on with AI / Machine Learning pipelines or vector DBs (Qdrant)
• Redis optimization & caching strategies
• Event-driven or micro-service experience (SQS, RabbitMQ, Kafka)
• Familiarity with Cursor (AI-powered code editor) and use it daily
• Open-source contributions or technical blogging/talks
• Owning the product development lifecycle with Linear
  
  

The Fine Print (No Fluff):

• Location: Remote-only (work from anywhere, North-American time zones preferred)

• Up to $100,000 depending on experience
• Remote-only culture, flexible hours, and a team that values results over face time
• Paid test project (≤ 4 h), so you’re compensated for your time during hiring
