A Brief Overview
Responsible for management of the security and safety program functions for MLH and MLH-owned facilities. Provides oversight responsibility that includes strategic planning and leadership to coordinate or integrate services within Security in order to maximize efficiency and quality. Develops and implements security standards, policies, and practices. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.
What you will do
- Directs and manages the delivery of safety and security programs for MLH's premises.
- Develops and implements security standards, policies, and practices.
- Analyzes work environments and assesses issues to identify, evaluate, and monitor risks that could affect business operations.
- Oversees planning, organization, control and overall strategic direction, including development of short and long-range plans, ensuring business strategies and objectives are met, and policy development in accordance to lawful and ethical standards.
- Develops a culture of safety and security through the coordination and delivery of training on security topics.
- Oversees internal investigations, incident management, workplace violence prevention, emergency planning and response, access control, and security for special events and activities.
- Maintains and develops a competent, productive, and quality-conscious workforce. Develops and implements processes through orientation, training, and education to ensure that the competence of all staff members is assessed, maintained, improved and demonstrated throughout their employment.
- Assists executives in defining organizational goals and strategic plans.
- Responsible for resource allocation, including budget and personnel; oversees and approves program expeditures and prepares financial forms and reports.
- Oversees special investigative and protective work, including work related to the physical safety of MLH personnel and guests.
- Collaborates with leadership at all MLH facilities to promote an organizational culture committed to quality and service.
- Serves as a resource regarding process, procedures and systems; facilitates changes as needed.
- Demonstrates effective customer relations skills, promotes a positive work environment and contributes to the team effort.
- Promotes and maintains an environment that encourages and provides appropriate opportunity for the staff's professional development and achievement of annual performance objectives.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree Criminal Justice
- Master's Degree
Experience Qualifications
- 5-7 years Security, law enforcement or related field
- 5-7 years Progressive leadership Experience in security of law enforcement field.
Skills and Abilities
- Expert business knowledge with comprehensive understanding of the organization and functional area(s).
- Advanced leadership skills.
- Knowledge of security and criminal investigation methods and operations
- Knowledge of security operations in a multi-facility organization preferred.
- Ability to model integrity and honesty to subordinates.
- Ability to understand and prepare complex written materials, such as policy and procedure manuals.
- Ability to communicate verbally with Associates, management and members of the public.
- Ability to lead and motivate individuals and groups of people toward the accomplishment of work and organizational goals.
- Skill in negotiating with and between individuals and groups of people, including Associates and management.
