Physical (Outdoor) Substation Engineer or Designer - Mid Level

Mesa seeks a Physical Substation Engineer or Designer who will be responsible for the design, checking and oversite of deliverables associated with substation Physical design projects. Assigned tasks will include the creation and revision of General Arrangements, Elevations and Sections, Control House Layouts, Grounding layouts, Conduit and Cable schedules, and Bill of Materials using MicroStation and/or AutoCAD. The ideal candidate will also oversee multiple projects at once and may oversee other junior engineers and designers.

Education/Experience Requirements:

• 3+ years of relevant Electrical Substation Design experience
• Experience performing scoping tasks is desired
• 4-year engineering degree or associates degree. 
• Professional Engineering License is preferred but not required

 

Responsibilities

• Utilize MicroStation and/or AutoCAD to create assigned deliverables
• Meet customer’s schedule and budget requirements
• Perform Physical design with high degree of accuracy
• Willingness to travel and work overtime as needed
• Perform careful self-checking activities to ensure the quality of work before it is presented to peers for independent reviews.
• Check/review other personnel's work for accuracy/adherence to client/national standards as the selected candidate progresses in their experience and knowledge base
• Oversee multiple projects simultaneously and occasionally oversee other designers and engineers in order to complete projects on time and on budget
• Perform project scoping activities
• Mentor junior engineers and designers

 

Location Requirements:

The selected candidate will be required to report to the Chattanooga, TN, Fort Mill, SC office, or remote (for highly qualified individuals) from the Carolina's area on a full-time basis. After the candidate has established a satisfactory work history, there may be an option for a hybrid in-office/remote work arrangement if local to the Chattanooga/Fort Mill offices. Highly qualified candidates may be considered for a full-time remote position (in the Carolina's regions) on a case-by-case basis but in office applicants will be given priority.
