Public Affairs Office - Marketing & Communication Intern
The Public Affairs Office (PAO) serves as the eyes, ears, and voice of MassDEP, speaking with and listening to the agency's many important stakeholders. PAO also helps to coordinate content on the agency's web site and directs the agency's social media outreach effort. The Public Affairs Office coordinates all communication between the agency and its various constituencies, including citizens, businesses, stakeholder groups and the news media.
Specific duties and responsibilities:
- Assist in the development of social media content and graphics that are engaging and informative.
- Assist in drafting media advisories, press releases and other related content.
- Maintain records and logs of media coverage and requests, as well as outreach activities of the office.
- Collect and distribute daily news clips.
- Assist in the development of marketing materials for internal and external audiences.
- Take photos and/or video of events and meetings.
- Assist PAO team on other activities and duties as assigned.
Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
- Communication or relevant liberal arts field (public relations, marketing, journalism, English, business management)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software
- Ability to work independently, and in an organized manner with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent writing skills and creative mindset.
- Basic knowledge of graphic design, video editing and online marketing.
