Summary

The materials and inventory planner responsibilities include both demand management and inventory planning.  They will plan inventory and coordinate the flow of work and materials to meet delivery expectations of forecasted and actual sales while minimizing inventory levels.   The planner will reflect demand changes in our planning systems to ensure high accuracy of forecast needs and ensure accuracy in inventory records, item usage history, and forecasting files.  

Responsibilities

 • With guidance from management,  planner develops the inventory management plans to support both material and finished good requirements

 • Identify current and potential product shortages, develop and execute recovery, advise interested parties of status and recovery plans

 • Coordinate with Purchasing for availability of materials

 • Coordinate material movement between vendors, warehouse and the production floor

 • Assist in the development, implementation, analysis and coordination of the master production schedule

 • Utilize Material Requirements Planning system (MRP) to ensure that data is accurate and up to date 

 • Maintain and update master files [items, vendors, etc.] including new item setup

 • Set up and monitor the integrity of Bill of Materials (BOM) and manage inventory accuracy

 • Thoroughly review, familiarize and understand existing BOM structure as well as the physical products

 • Key participant in developing and managing company SOP related to materials planning.

 • Manage inventory levels to meet corporate goals 

• Coordinate and manage monthly cycle counts for all manufacturing locations and distribution center; key participant in quarterly  physical inventory

 • Support inventory checks to validate inventory accuracy; investigate & reconcile discrepancies & negatives

 • Posting of daily inventory transactions

 • Analyze data and collaborate with management to determine and apply appropriate ordering, inventory, and replenishment policies 

 • Assist in maintaining the monthly KPI

 • Provide reports and requested information as needed 

• All other duties as assigned
 
Experience

 • BA Degree or equivalent

 • 3-5 years professional experience in manufacturing planning, inventory control or materials planning role

 • APICS certification

 • Knowledge and experience with Sales & Operations Planning

 • Strong understanding of MRP and supply chain software 

• Advanced computer skills, Excel experience mandatory

 • Outstanding planning and organizational skills

 • Extremely strong analytical and problem-solving skills
