About the role

Compensation:  $180,000-$225,000/year. You are eligible to a Short-Term Incentive with the target at 25% of your annual earnings, terms and conditions apply. 

Job Overview:

The Director, Product Management - Genomic Information Solutions devises the product strategy for executing and delivering on Ambry’s IT business initiatives specific to clinical information delivery technology and core EMR/EHR systems. The Director is responsible for overseeing the design inputs for Ambry’s software products that integrate with electronic medical record (EMR) systems, leverage health informatics data, and ensure interoperability. They also ensure that patient information is accurate, secure, and confidential, while complying with legal and regulatory requirements.

The Director will develop an in-depth understanding of how organization capabilities interrelate across Ambry’s clinical and reporting units, overall needs of Ambry customers from large health systems to independent practices, and the enterprise as a whole.

Essential Functions: 

The Director collaborates with the business and functional stakeholders to identify user needs, design inputs and works with IT teams to deliver strategic enablement solutions. Decisions include development of software projects and/or implementation into large-scale programs and healthcare systems, support of technical/operational procedures and processes, and implementation of strategic plans, driving goals, objectives and performance improvement. Specific to this role, the Director will:

  • Develop and implement strategies for the integration of Ambry’s software systems and applications with EMRs of various healthcare systems
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and test Ambry’s software and applications.
  • Manage the implementation and ongoing maintenance of Ambry’s software systems and applications to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements
  • Identify and address technical issues related to Ambry’s software products.
  • Develop and manage project plans for software development initiatives, including budget and resource allocation
  • Build and maintain relationships with healthcare providers, vendors, and stakeholders
  • Work across business and technology training teams to manage end-to-end change for end-users, with an emphasis to physicians ordering testing through EMR systems.
  • Develop policies and procedures for the use and access of Ambry’s software systems and applications to ensure security and compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Work around vendor management, business leaders, and key EMR vendors to create a program of application performance accountability including UI responsiveness, overall quality of releases, adherence to regulatory and legal change, and general business continuity. This may require knowledge of performance tooling and a dedicated focus on clinician and patient user experience.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, or related field required or relevant work experience

  • 8+ years of experience in healthcare IT and software development. Ideally, SaaS or cloud-native application development.

  • 5+ years of management experience

  • In-depth knowledge of EMR/EHR systems and healthcare workflows. Ideally with Epic, Oracle/Cerner, Meditech, eCW and Athena.

  • Experience managing software development projects and teams. Ideally with experience in Scaled Agile scrum-based development.

  • Experience with phase-gated product development.

  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations and compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH)

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously

  • Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experience

  • In-depth knowledge of development leveraging FHIR, SMART on FHIR, client and server SDKs, JSON/XML, ADTs, HL7. 

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience leading digital/mobile development teams and initiatives

  • Hands-on experience developing solutions which interface programmatically with one or more EMRs/EHRs

  • Experience leading an end-to-end implementation of an EMR or EHR.

  • Salesforce development
