GENERAL FUNCTION: Responsible for computer system engineering, including architecting, designing, installing, testing, and configuring Puyallup Tribal Health Authority’s (PTHA’s) computing systems used for the transmission of voice, data and video in a secured format. In addition, this position is responsible for IT infrastructure assets including but not limited to: hardware software, telecommunications, and wireless systems to ensure the overall performance and availability to PTHA users.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for performing system configuration, implementation, redundancy checks and technical support on a daily basis.
  • Responsible for technology design, review, implementation, documentation, and cross training.
  • Responsible for reviewing applications, clinical solutions, and other systems that are being proposed for purchase and implementation to ensure conformity with best practices and PTHA policies.
  • Identify and implement appropriate enterprise level solutions as soon as possible when issues arise.
  • As directed: Research, evaluate, test, recommend and support scalable solutions for PTHA’s computing environment
  • Analyze and troubleshoot advanced problems on a daily basis, or sooner if needed.
  • On a daily basis provide second level support to the Help Desk, I.T. Specialists, and System Administrator.
  • Provide regular status updates as needed to end users regarding their projects and support requests. Updates are to be provided from initiation through resolution/completion.
  • Report errors or issues to Health Technology Manager on the same business day the issue is discovered.
  • Perform software & system updates and maintenance quarterly or sooner if needed.
  • Analyze & assess capacity of hardware/OS/systems and recommend upgrades/changes that will enhance performance and meet business needs on a quarterly basis or sooner if necessary.
  • Validate server recovery and restore procedures alongside the Systems Administrator on a quarterly basis.
  • Evaluate vendor solutions and services, act as a primary point of contact for vendor relationship.
  • Stay knowledgeable of current and evolving networking technologies, solutions and products by attending at least 8 hours of appropriate web based continuing education annually.
  • Responsible for knowing and understanding the concepts, industry standards, practices and tools relating to high-availability networks.
  • Perform hardware/software system updates and maintenance quarterly or sooner if needed.
  • Establish and enforce principles and architecture for new and changes to technology.
  • Responsible for documentation and cross training of new and existing systems.
  • Maintain written and up-to-date infrastructure processes and procedures.
  • Participate in the after hour on-call coverage according to schedule, or as needed.
  • Provides after-hours maintenance as directed or as necessary.

SYSTEMS ENGINEER III ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for providing expert technical direction and leadership in the design and implementation of the technical computing and communications infrastructure.
  • Assist with development and implementation of organizational policies that relate to IT, clinical applications, support services and telecommunications.
  • Build and maintain roadmaps that outline current capabilities, identify influences, and clarify gaps and projects to attain strategic objectives.
  • Identify, develop, implement and support new and ongoing projects by establishing deliverables with appropriate timelines and deadlines.
  • Understand and apply network traffic flow controls.
  • Create RFI/RFP/RFQ’s as needed or directed by established deadline.
  • Support organizational architecture and organizational change governance.
