The Red Hat Engineering team is seeking an Associate Software Engineer to join the Linux Virtualization team. In this role, you will design, implement, and automate deployment tools and solutions, contributing to industry-leading technologies like Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization, Red Hat OpenStack Platform, Red Hat Enterprise Linux and also community driven distribution such as CentOS Stream and Fedora. As part of a geographically distributed team, you will collaborate with multiple Red Hat engineering teams and open-source communities around the globe. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work alongside and learn from some of the brightest engineers in the open-source industry.
What you will do
- Design, implement new features and fix bugs in KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine) and QEMU (machine emulator and virtualizer) with a focus on migration
- Review patches and provide feedback on community-oriented features, enhancements, and bug fixes
- Collaborate with multiple teams across Red Hat virtualization
What you will bring
- Experience in C programming and debugging
- Familiarity with Git and Bash
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English
The following are considered a plus:
- Familiarity with Virtualization
- Understanding of open source development processes or a record of open source contributions
- Good knowledge of operating systems and computer architecture concepts
- Familiarity with Kubernetes or OpenShift
