Bay Area Community Resources at A.P Giannini Middle School in San Francisco is seeking committed and passionate Program Leaders to lead academic, physical, and enrichment activities as part of our Beacon After School Programs at AP Giannini Middle School. The Program Leader will lead a Learning Club with groups up to 20 students. Students have shown interest in Coding or Software Club, Cooking Club, Arts and Crafts Club, Social Media Club (educate kids on how to use social media in a positive way), Science Experiment Club, Dance Club (hip-hop, break dancing, etc.), and Skate/Bike Club, other ideas welcome!

Benefits:

  • Pay rate: $22-24/hr (based on experience and location)
  • Hours: 20 hours per week
  • Schedule: Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri 3:00pm - 6:40pm; Wed (early release + weekly staff meeting) 1:50pm - 5:40pm

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate Degree OR 48 or more college units OR pass the Instructional Aide exam
  • Must pass a criminal background check and TB test clearance
  • Able to work every day during after-school hours and commit to a full academic school year required for the position
  • Ability to travel to required meetings and must have a clean driving record and insurance if using a personal vehicle

Preferred:

  • General knowledge base of core elementary and middle school subjects
  • Strong classroom and behavioral management skills
  • Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds
  • Computer literacy
  • Cantonese or Mandarin speaker
  • CPR and First Aid Certification (or willingness to receive training)

Responsibilities (including but not limited to)

  • Provide homework and academic support for program participants
  • Facilitate and plan academic skill-building activities based on students' skill level and state educational standards
  • Clearly explain instructions for the assignments given
  • Write lesson plans, use learning targets and instructional strategies
  • Create, plan, and facilitate engaging enrichment and physical activities for students
  • Support students in developing the skills they need to be successful in school and life
  • Promote a safe and positive classroom environment
  • Attend and participate in all staff meetings and ongoing trainings
