The University of Miami Health System, "UHealth", Global Institute Department has an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time Outreach Specialist.
The Outreach Specialist supports in developing and implementing new and existing public education and outreach programs, serving as a liaison to the community. The incumbent performs a wide variety of duties and demonstrates a high level of professionalism and effectiveness. Moreover, the incumbent utilizes project management skills to organize community outreach activities. The Outreach Specialist serves as a lead when the Director is unavailable.
Core Responsibilities
Supports in the development and implementation of public education and outreach programs.
Works with community-based organizations to plan promotional educational and other events targeted towards designing an increased awareness in the community.
Assists in publishing activities: writing, editing, budgeting, scheduling, and distribution.
Interacts effectively with outside advertising agencies, printers, photographers, and other vendors.
Aids with the preparation and distribution of public health education and navigation manuals.
Identifies effective strategies for promoting enrollment in ongoing studies, conducting active and passive recruitment, in-person, and online outreach.
Conducts brief surveys by phone and in community settings.
Aids with compiling data for presentations.
Develops professional relationships with mental health providers, researchers, and community members.
Collaborates with other members of the team on special projects and events.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Department Specific Functions:
Outreach Specialist will be assigned to both local and international outreach initiatives, supporting the development and execution of strategic plans, efforts, and engagement timelines for each project.
Responsible for supporting outreach-related processes, including managing logistics for partner communications, tracking expenses, and assisting with resource allocation in collaboration with team members.
Work closely with the Business Manager to assist in planning and managing budgets for both new and ongoing programs, ensuring alignment with institute goals and activities.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with local and international partners involved in collaborative outreach projects, fostering strong communication and engagement to ensure the success of each initiative.
Assist in coordinating outreach events and activities, including those related to local and international programs, ensuring successful participation and community engagement.
Facilitate internal meetings with team members involved in outreach projects to assess needs, strategize solutions, and provide feedback to leadership on the status and progress of all initiatives.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required
Preferred background in global health and public relations.
Ability to travel locally and internationally as liaison between UM and outside organizations
Learning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.
