Job Description

Primary Function of Position
Our team designs and develops AI and machine learning enabled clinical applications that provide critical insights to surgeons who using the da Vinci™ Surgical System. We are seeking a seasoned Full Stack Software Engineer to join our collaborative team. In this role, you will work alongside experts from diverse disciplines to drive innovation and create new solutions. You will leverage Python, React JS, React Native, and JavaScript to create cloud pipeline components, cloud-based microservices, APIs and web, desktop and mobile applications. Your contributions will directly enhance patient care by delivering vital clinical insights, while simultaneously improving the robustness, reliability, and traceability of our applications.

Essential Job Duties

As a full stack software developer in the digital clinical application development team, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing new software features for our AI and machine learning enabled clinical applications.
  • Designing and implementing new data models and software APIs to support product features related to data retrieval, loading, and business logic.
  • Creating cloud-based data pipelines for the clinical data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) into our cloud databases.
  • Engaging in proof-of-concept software development for new product initiatives.
  • Writing software unit tests and working with software test engineers to debug and resolve software issues.
  • Contributing to software site reliability engineering to ensure compliance with product SLAs for our customers.
  • Involving in customer-facing software production support, collaborating with Tier 2 support engineers to ensure a seamless experience for surgeons.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field with at least 3 years of experience
  • Hands-on experience with web and mobile development using React JS, React Native, and/or related technologies.
  • Proficient in designing and implementing web and mobile applications, including RESTful/gRPC API development.
  • Hands-on experience working with microservice-based architectures and distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Bash scripting and Python programming in Linux/Unix environments.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker, and orchestration using Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git), software development workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and unit testing best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, proactive can-do attitude, and ability to deliver high-quality results with minimal supervision.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience with React Native, React JS, JavaScript, Linux, Python scripting
  • Experience with unit testing, integration testing, continuous integration, and automation.
  • Experience with deploying and scaling applications in cloud service like AWS, GCP
