Patient Care Assistant
Department: Atrium East – Med/Surg - Our Atrium East unit at our Chelsea hospital cares for Medical-Surgical patients. Patient diagnoses can vary from medical such as: COPD, Sepsis, withdrawal, GI bleeds, CHF or Surgical: bariatric, Mastectomy, colorectal surgeries, hernias. This unit has 24 beds and specializes in complex high acuity medical and surgical patients with length of stay from 3-5 days.
Location: Chelsea, MI hospital
Pay: $16.00-$19.49 per hour based upon applicable on the job patient care experience + shift premiums when working afternoons, overnights and weekend shifts

Position Purpose:
Exceptional opportunity for a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to support our vision and serve with us as a compassionate and transforming healing presence in our community. We seek exceptional individuals from a variety of backgrounds, because diversity makes us stronger.
The PCA, under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age specific, developmental, cultural and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe and conducive to patient/family wellbeing including concepts of relationship-based care.
Training is provided to prepare our colleagues for success. The PCA assists patient in completing ADLs including: Bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices and with feeding and menu selection. They are responsible to record patient information and required data in appropriate areas in order to meet documentation requirements.
Shifts Available: Days
Status Available: Full time, benefit eligible (72 hours per pay period – every two weeks)
Weekend and holiday rotation required
Required Qualifications
High school diploma, GED, or a minimum of 18 years of age.
Recent experience desired.
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance, lifting greater than 35 pounds using mechanical assis
