Wright Public Entity serves as a management company providing claims administration, risk management and loss control, underwriting, marketing, and client services in New York for the NY Schools Insurance Reciprocal (NYSIR: ‘A’ rated by Best), NY Municipal Insurance Reciprocal (NYMIR: ‘A-’ rated by Best) and Statewide Schools Health Plan. We also act as a third-party administrator for workers’ compensation for various self-insured schools and municipalities in New York.
The Litigation Claims Examiner position will be responsible for the adjustment of litigated casualty claims.
Responsibilities:
Investigate, analyze, evaluate, and bring to a disposition all assigned claims
Coverage assessment
Assure appropriate loss and expense reserves for all assigned losses
Assign and manage the activities of independent adjusters and other vendors
Manage, direct and work effectively with defense and coverage counsel
Collaborate with clients, brokers and internal departments
Identify risk transfer and subrogation potential
Reinsurance reporting
Preparing comprehensive claim correspondence, including coverage position communications
Present cases at Claims Committee and Round Table meetings
Attend training classes and/or secure professional designations
Competencies:
Possesses the ability to organize and prioritize work activities timely and efficiently
Possesses good written and oral communication skills
Possesses the ability to analyze problems, evaluate alternatives, and select the best course of action in a timely manner
Possesses negotiation skills
Position Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; JD preferred
Minimum of five years of experience in handling litigated casualty claims, with an emphasis on General Liability, Auto and Public Entity claims in New York
New York General Adjuster’s license
Good telephone demeanor
Proficient use of a PC
Valid driver’s license
Occasional travel

$90,000 - $110,000 salary, depending on experience
