SUMMARY
Under general supervision, manages planning and construction projects for MPS by generating solutions to align district facilities resources with existing and anticipated instructional, operational and financial opportunities and limitations; assures that projects meet state and Federal regulations and District standards.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
 Manages a portfolio of concurrent projects in multiple locations for oversight of design, construction, project closeout, and warranty processes.
 Conducts facility feasibility studies, including statement of project intent and resulting scope, project budget and schedule assumptions, and forecast.
 Reviews and approves technical documents, change orders, and purchase/payment requests; evaluates, negotiates, and resolves contract and technical issues.
 Participates in the creation and evaluation of planning for remodels, expansions, and new construction.
 Provides input and oversees the selection of architects, engineers, designers, and contractors; presents recommendations for the selection of contractors and consultants.
 Coordinates various elements of the design and construction process to successfully remodel or build projects.
 Develops budgets, scopes, and schedules to establish completion dates, identify any delays or impacts that may affect the cost or the timely completion of projects.
 Prepares and evaluates consultant and contractor request for proposals and bid packages.
 Manages financial controls and documents the control process for multiple concurrent projects.
 Review plans and specifications for suitability of school use, quality, student and staff safety, compliance with federal state regulations, future operation costs, and budget.
 Builds strong working relationships with district leaders, school leaders, and community leaders to promote collaboration and solve common problems. Resolves employee, parent, and community complaints and mediates issues of importance to the community.
 Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with students, clients, visitors, and MPS staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.
 Enthusiastically promotes the Superintendent’s goals and priorities in compliance with all policies and procedures.
 Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, records, and MPS information.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines
Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Urban Planning, Construction Management, or a related field; AND three (3) years of construction planning and project management experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience as determined by Human Resources.

Knowledge of:
 Methods and practices for project planning, designs, technical plans, specifications, estimates, and reports for construction projects.
 Materials, methods, and techniques used in infrastructure projects for public buildings.<
