Description
Provide support as part of a collaborative team for:
• the State of Alaska (SOA) Department of Revenue (DOR) production tax accrual, monthly assessment and annual filing
• the internal and external audits as required by ConocoPhillips’
• information requests and special projects as needed
Job Duties:
• Understand the Alaska Production Tax statutes (AS 43.55) and regulations (15 AAC 55), how to apply them to CPAI operations and the processes/systems in place for compliance
• Prepare the monthly State of Alaska (SOA) production tax accrual and assessment along with other related monthly and annual accruals.
• Collaborate with the AK BU analysts, Revenue groups and operations to understand the revenue and costs impacting production tax
• Review and reconcile data in monthly and annual reporting forms to source data.
• Assist with coordination and completion of the SOA annual production tax assessment and re-files.
• Calculate interest applicable to accruals, refiles and annual filings,
• Report monthly/annual data into Revenue Online (ROL), understand the calculations/flow of data.
• Prepare monthly/annual OGP ROL file with variance explanation for Supervisor review and approval
• Coordinate audit requests for both CPAI internal, CPAI external, and DOR auditors
• Review workpapers and audit reports from the SOA DOR
• Prepare account reconciliation for G/L 220600, Co. YA and NBRE
• Responsible for SAP FIT testing for the group
• Representative for Anchorage Tower Business Continuity Plan
• Maintain and update documentation of desk procedures and processes as necessary
• Provide routine and ad hoc variance analysis and internal reports to Supervisor – AK Production Tax
• Recommend potential business process changes to Supervisor – AK Production Tax
• Assist with special projects.
Basic/Required Qualifications:
• Legally authorized to work in the United States
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
• 2+ years financial experience
• Strong Excel and SAP skills
• Strong communication skills (written, oral, presentation)
• Ability to function independently as well as work as an effective team player
• Able to handle multiple responsibilities, prioritize numerous tasks, and work effectively under pressure to meet firm deadlines without direct supervision
Preferred Skills:
• Familiar with Essbase, Spotfire and SQL
• Familiar with Alaska Business Unit
• Familiar with State of Alaska Production Tax laws and regulations
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Understanding of joint venture accounting or auditing.
• Ability to work with and influence others, both internal (financial, technical, operational, management) and external (SOA agents, external auditors)
• Strong analytical abilities and a broad business perspective
• Work effectively with all levels of employees and across group/department boundaries
• Ability to translate relevant accounting financial data into meaningful information.
