EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
•    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
•    Master’s degree and/or CPA, preferred
•    7+ years’ experience in governmental accounting and financial management with a large, multifaceted organization (preferably school systems), in accounting, payroll, auditing, accounts receivable, and accounts payable processes, required.

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with financial reporting and analysis, cash management, and general ledger reconciliations 
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access)
•    Experience with dynamic ERP systems (Oracle Cloud preferred)
•    Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities, with strong data analysis acumen, and a focus on accuracy and attention to detail
•    Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment
•    Excellent customer service, communication (both written and verbal), and cross-group collaboration skills required
•    Demonstrated knowledge of finance and accounting practices [Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB)]

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
•    Manage, prepare, and analyze financial and accounting records to ensure accuracy and compliance with reporting procedures and standards
•    Reviews and prepares journal entries to record financial activity, reclassifications, and corrections to the general ledger
•    Assists with cash management for the school system, including monitoring daily cash balances, collateral levels, preparation of cash receipts, daily cash flow projects, and issuing wires between accounts
•    Prepares bank reconciliations
•    Responsible for developing and maintaining up-to-date accounting policies and procedures, including internal controls
•    Reviews outstanding checks periodically and files annual unclaimed property return to the state 
•    Responsible for the preparation of the annual financial report and for preparing the balance sheet reconciliation to be submitted to MSDE
•    Assists with annual payroll accruals and reversals
•    Responsible for the reconciliation of the payroll subledger to the general ledger
•    Assists with the preparation of AP annual accruals
•    Assists with correspondence related to investment advisors and actuaries 
•    Assists with planning and coordinating quarterly pension committee meeting 
•    Responsible for reconciling monthly pension statements and preparing journal entries to record pension activity
•    Assist with health insurance run-out projections
•    Prepares audit schedules for annual financial audits as assigned and assists with the completion of annual financial reports 
•    Prepares ad-hoc financial and accounting reports with the Oracle ERP system as required
•    Performs other work-related duties as assigned

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard. The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
