POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is in the Tallahassee Regional Crime Laboratory, reporting to a Crime Lab Supervisor. This is a full-time position that works collaboratively with various sections in the Crime Lab to assist with administrative tasks and projects like filling public records requests, checking the status of open cases with the court system, entering, and reviewing case information into spreadsheets and databases. This position requires the ability to juggle different tasks and priorities and handle change well, while also being able to follow standardized procedures. The position also requires excellent facilitation and customer service skills.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Providing assistance to direct supervisor on various projects;
  • Providing assistance to law enforcement and criminal justice agencies through phone calls and emails in a courteous and timely manner;
  • Keeping laboratory clean and organized;
  • Assisting with conversion of paper files to electronic documentation;
  • Assisting with surplus of outdated equipment;
  • Updating Tempys (electronic temperature monitoring) system;
  • Assisting with Public Record Requests; and
  • Preparing travel reimbursements.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office computer software and applications;
  • Knowledge of administrative principles and practices;
  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data relating to administrative functions such as personnel and purchasing;
  • Ability to prepare correspondence and administrative reports;
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments;
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; and
