About the role

Opportunity Overview: Reactor Component Upgrade Technician – 12 month+ contract supporting Fall 2025 Outage and beyond. 

The Reactor Component Upgrade Technician will focus on maintaining, repairing, and upgrading components of nuclear reactors and related equipment.  The work will ensure the safe and efficient operation of nuclear facilities, often requiring specialized knowledge and training in nuclear technology and safety protocols. This position will require travel to different nuclear sites to support Westinghouse work.

 

What your day-to-day looks like:  

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Maintenance and Repair - Performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on reactor components and associated equipment. 

 

  • Component Upgrades - Installing and integrating new or upgraded components into existing reactor systems.

 

  • Safety Oversight - Ensuring all work is performed in accordance with strict safety regulations and procedures, including radiation safety. 

 

  • Monitoring and Analysis - Monitoring reactor parameters, analyzing data, and identifying potential issues or areas for improvement. 

 

  • Documentation- Maintaining detailed records of maintenance, repairs, and upgrades performed. 

 

  • Collaboration - Working closely with other technicians, engineers, and operators to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the reactor. 

 

  • Following Procedures - Adhering to established procedures for handling radioactive materials, operating equipment, and responding to emergencies

 

What we need to see from you: 

  • Technical Expertise - A strong understanding of nuclear reactor systems, components, and related technologies. 

 

  • Safety Awareness - A thorough knowledge of radiation safety procedures and protocols. 

 

  • Problem-Solving - The ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to reactor components. 

 

  • Communication Skills - Effective communication skills are essential for collaborating with team members and documenting work. 

 

  • Physical Stamina - The ability to perform physically demanding tasks in a potentially hazardous environment. 

 

  • Education and Training - An associate's degree in nuclear science or a related field is often required, with additional training in nuclear technology and safety procedures. 

 

  • Experience - Previous experience in the nuclear industry or a related field is often preferred.
