Title: Financial Aid Counselor, Extended Campuses

POSITION SUMMARY
The Financial Aid Counselor, Extended Campuses, provides excellent customer service and guidance to diverse groups of both traditional and non-traditional students and their families throughout the financial aid process; and supports students at our extended campuses with financial aid questions both virtually and in person. Regular travel among campuses will be required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide guidance throughout the financial aid process to prospective, new, and current students and their families. Evaluate students’ Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). Counsel students regarding file completion, repercussions of drops/withdrawals, SAP appeals. Maintain knowledge of polices of other departments (registrar. Bursar, human resources, admissions, etc.) and understand the impact of their processing on a student’s financial aid eligibility. Utilize conflict resolution skill sets to ensure student financial aid issues are resolved in a friendly and professional manner while assisting students with understanding their financial aid situation and potential solutions. Maintain student confidentiality in accordance with FERPA regulations and Financial Aid policies at all campuses. Ensure that separation of duties is maintained at all campuses. Data entry and scanning of financial aid documents at an extended campus.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree

Two years of relevant experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in financial aid

Experience with Banner, SLATE, and Degree Works

NASFAA credentials

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to communicate with a diverse group of students and parents regarding financial aid. Must be detail oriented and organized while maintaining high degree of accuracy. Knowledge of financial aid regulations. Ability to review, interpret, and make professional judgments on complex issues while maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations. Ability to understand personal income tax laws as they relate to federal financial aid. Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
