About the role
Westchester, a Chubb Company, is seeking a Senior or Executive Property Underwriter to join our Middle Market Property & Casualty team. The role is focused on achieving profitable underwriting results through growth, development, servicing, and underwriting of Westchester’s Middle Market Property business.
Duties may include but are not limited to:
- Marketing: Develop and execute on marketing plan for assigned producers and territories
- Marketing: Consistently travel the assigned territory visiting with assigned producers to actively generate business
- Negotiate pricing, terms and conditions for excess and surplus commercial property accounts using assigned underwriting authority and company guidelines
- Risk Assessment - Identify risk exposures, special or common hazards, and appropriate controls. Select risk based on exposure and risk analysis. Analyze claims and quantify losses.
- Maintain underwriting discipline and document the underwriting files with account review, analysis and conclusions
- Communications – Provide outstanding service to assigned producers through prompt responses and reliable communication
- Contribute proportionally to the overall Westchester Middle Market P&C plan through renewal retention, new business production, account servicing and overall profitability.

- 3+ years Property underwriting experience
- Bachelor’s degree
- Excellent Skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Knowledge of loss prevention to improve desirability of specific risks
- Knowledge of underwriting concepts, practices, and procedures
- Internet usage and research
- Oral and written communication skills
- Negotiation skills
- Marketing skills
- Basic leadership skills
