  • Preparation and maintenance of all HSE training materials and training matrix, coordination and scheduling of training, maintenance of training records, and communication of training progress. Develop and deliver training programs for employees on internal safety standards, guidelines, and industry best practices  Training is implemented through computer based and In-person training
  • Daily engagement and field presence will site colleagues through activities including Departement Safety Committees participation; Housekeeping Audits; Safe Work Permit Audits; JSA auditing; Safe Work Permit pre-plan reviews, etc. Lead initiatives aimed at continuous improvement of safety performance and overall operational excellence
  • Develop, review, and maintain all Occupational Health & Safety policies, procedures, and forms. Communicate changes to all affected site personnel. Implement and operate Occupational Safety and Industrial Hygiene standardized processes and manage related programs and systems.Improve and maintain emergency response planning including coordinating emergency response training and drills (fire, hazmat, medical) and lead tabletop exercises.Define and track safety metrics and analyze data from incident reports to improve safety. Prepare detailed reports and presentations on safety performance and recommendations for management review. Stay updated on changes in regulations and work with PSM Engineer to review programs accordingly
  • Manage the Safe Work Permit programs, including reviewing, updating, and maintaining procedures for Hot Work, Confined Space Entry, Lock-out/Tag-out, Line/Vessel Opening, etc.  This will include regular auditing of permitted work activities in the field and auditing completed work permits and giving feedback/training as necessary. Support project teams to ensure all aspects of safety and emergency response are evaluated and addressed in projects
  • Update and maintain the Site PPE Matrix; Coordinate the site Respirator Safety Program; Coordinate testing, maintenance, and recordkeeping of site Safety Equipment
  • Manage the Hazard Communication Plan including SDS records, labeling, and management of new chemical introduction process
  • Support during compliance audits from external or internal agencies. Track, participate in, and support site safety inspections
  • Coordinate all Industrial Hygiene activities, such as employee monitoring, reporting, and risk mitigation
  • Oversee Contractor Safety Management program

Requirements

 

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, environmental Science or related field is preferred. ASP or CSP certification preferred. Consideration will be given to years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
  • 3-5 years experience as Occupational Health & Safety professional required
  • Working knowledge of hazards and controls for high risk activities in the chemical industry, including: hazardous material handling, control of hazardous energy, confined space, excavation/trenching, lifting operations, hot work, working at heights, and electrical work
  • Deep understanding of work permitting and JSA
  • Knowledge of OSHA and WA State regulatory requirements
  • Familiarity with industry safety standards, including NFPA, ANSI, and NEC standards
  • Understanding of chemical manufacturing processes and associated hazards, including flammability, toxicity, reactivity, corrosivity, etc. OSHA PSM plant experience preferred.
  • Participate in the MOC process, ensuring that proposed changes to processes, equipment, and procedures are thoroughly reviewed for health and safety impacts
  • Initiative to drive continuous improvement in occupational safety programs
  • Experience in creating and delivering safety training
  • Fluent in English, with strong oral and written communication skills to interpret OSHA, and other regulations and liaise with a variety of stakeholders
  • Experience with direct supervision of contractors, consultants, design firms, etc.
  • Willingness to drive change/Self-reliant with strong time management and prioritization skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening, and oral communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills especially Microsoft Office 
  • Ability to review and write Standard Operating Procedures and Policies
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple organizational levels from shop floor to executive level<
