Description
CSS Company Summary:
CRISP Shared Services (CSS) serves as the designated Health Information Exchange (HIE) for Maryland and Washington, D.C., with affiliates in West Virginia, Connecticut, Alaska and Virginia. CSS facilitates the electronic transfer of clinical information between disparate information systems in order to positively impact the healthcare system through improved patient care and outcomes, reduced costs, and data-driven understanding of regional public health concerns.
Job Summary:
The primary function is to support the financial processes of CSS which include the following: accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and cash application.
Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Accounting
- Responsible for preparing all manual journal entries, as well as sales invoice imports for all companies, and purchase invoices for CRISP DC and WVHIN.
- Responsible for reconciling all cash accounts except CSS Payroll, intercompany payable/receivable, deferred/unearned revenue, and deferred rent/PP&E/LoC accounts.
Accounts Payable
- Process vendor invoices in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central by coding charges according to grant agreements and company policies. In addition, this will include regular communication with project managers to approve the validity of the charges.
- Import and export vendor invoice data through third party accounts payable vendor, Bill.com.
Accounts Receivable
- Prepare user fee bills for Maryland, District of Columbia and West Virginia hospitals and payers, as well as other West Virginia participants (FQHCs, physician practices, etc.).
- Prepare grant bills for CRISP DC and WVHIN.
- Prepare biweekly AR aging reports for all companies as well as an MDH-specific report, and assist with follow-up collectability questions.
Cash Application
- Post cash receipts and payments in Tangicloud for all cash accounts except CSS Payroll.
- Resolve discrepancies with Senior Finance Manager.
Other
- Support annual financial audit.
- Complete financial reports and other ad hoc reporting for management.
Qualifications

- Intermediate level Microsoft Excel skills (i.e. create tables and formulas)
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Adobe)
- Knowledge of general accounting and/or public accounting experience
- Effective communicator, both verbal and written
- Ability to prepare financial reports based on analyzing accounting data
- Background with Microsoft Business Dynamics/Tangicloud a plus
- Experience in a not for profit industry a plus
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration with a specialization in Accounting or Finance
