Senior Director, Data Science – Last Mile Delivery

Job Summary:

As the Senior Director, Data Science for Last Mile Delivery at Walmart, you will lead a team of Senior Managers to drive the overall strategy and scientific direction for our Last Mile Delivery operations. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for optimizing delivery speed, reducing costs, and shaping the future of Walmart’s delivery experience for hundreds of millions of customers.

What you’ll do:

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 3-5 Senior Managers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and high performance.
• Set and execute the strategic vision for Last Mile Delivery, leveraging data science to drive business outcomes.
• Influence and partner with cross-functional stakeholders, including executive leadership, to align on priorities and deliver measurable impact.
• Oversee the development and optimization of advanced analytics, algorithms, and models to improve delivery speed and reduce costs.
• Drive the adoption of digital and data-driven solutions to scale Walmart’s in-house delivery capabilities.
• Monitor key performance indicators and ensure continuous improvement in delivery operations.

What you’ll bring:

• Strong data analytics expertise and business acumen, with a proven ability to translate insights into strategic action.
• Exceptional communication and persuasion skills, with experience influencing at all organizational levels, including executives.
• Demonstrated leadership in managing and developing high-performing data science teams.
• Deep digital background with a passion for innovation and operational optimization.
• Outstanding critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Advanced degree (PhD or MS) in a quantitative field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• (Preferred) Experience in supply chain operations, last mile delivery, or related analytics-driven domains.
