Basic Function
LyondellBasell is searching for a Machinery Condition Monitoring Analyst for our High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) manufacturing facility located in Matagorda, TX, 13 miles south of Bay City, TX. The primary responsibility for this position is collecting, analyzing, and reporting the health of process equipment based on prescribed predictive maintenance indicators to include vibrations, thermography, oil analysis, and key operating parameters. This position works closely with operations, unit engineers, and maintenance crews in troubleshooting efforts and collaborates on repair criteria. This position also provides condition monitoring based oversight during repair efforts to include identification/confirmation of failure modes, testing/check-out in the shop, and field compliance to QA/QC test plans.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Day-to-day data acquisition from rotating equipment, including but not limited to vibration data with portable systems, critical machinery temperatures, lube oil samples and analysis, and process data such as pressures, flows, load, efficiencies, process, and valve temperatures.
- Perform analysis of data to resolve or proactively anticipate equipment failures using the following techniques and hardware:
- Vibration – trending, spectral analysis, time wave form, phase angle analysis, gap voltages, model analysis, thrust position, and load cells.
- Lubrication – wear particle analysis, water content, ferrographic analysis, spectrochemical analysis.
- Other – PV analysis, thermographic analysis, ultrasonic analysis, machinery performance data, process data from Aspen IP21.
- Implements continuous monitoring systems such as alarm, report, and acceptance regions, as well as establish routes and their frequency.
- Drive scheduling of repairs through ownership of SAP notifications, bad actor list, and corresponding following-up with the engineers, PMC, and scheduler.
- Report equipment deficiencies utilizing tools such as SAP and Meridium, and make recommendations regarding the type and timing of the required action. Verify accuracy of the predictions against shop follow-up reports and KPI’s.
- Collaborate with the responsible engineer, planner, and PMC to ensure proper priorities are placed on deficiencies.
- Utilize SAP, Meridium, root cause failure analysis reports, vibration history, oil trends, and thermography tools in problem solving.
- Support the lubrication program by collecting the regularly scheduled oil samples, interpreting the analysis, and creating recommended corrective actions when required.
- Interface daily with unit operators to maintain awareness of new or developing/progressing equipment abnormalities.
- Perform other requested duties related to this function to ensure the reliability of the plant rotating equipment.
Min. Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in troubleshooting and repair of rotating equipment.
- Possess or attain within 6 months a Level I Vibration Analyst Certification.
- Possess or attain within 2 years a Level II Vibration Analyst Certification.
- Possess or attain within 1 year a Machinery Lubricant Analyst Certification.
- Proficiency in the use and application of the vibration data acquisition software and diagnostic equipment used to collect and analyze the data.
- Basic understanding of other predictive maintenance techniques to include thermography, ultrasonic, and lube oil analysis.
- Solid troubleshooting skills and the ability to interpret and analyze data.
- Strong IT computer skills with the ability to proficiently utilize SAP, Microsoft Office, Aspen IP21, and the enterprise Vibration Data software.
- The successful candidate must possess independent decision-making skills, a high degree of ownership, and be able to work autonomously.
- Must be willing and able to stand and walk for extended periods of time as well as frequently bend, reach, and lift.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Able to work in a confined space and from elevated platforms.
- Able to wear appropriate protective equipment.
- Must successfully pass pre-employment screening process.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without visa sponsorship (U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident).
