Job Summary
We are looking for a full-time Occupational Health Nurse (RN) to support our Occupational Health efforts.
The Occupational Health Nurse will promote the safety and health of all employees by prevention, recognition, and treatment of injuries and illnesses, as well as providing effective case management to improve quality of life for employees, improve productivity and reduce overall company benefit costs.
Daily tasks may include medical care assessment, personal interviews with injured employees, assistance in developing, implementing, and coordinating a medical care plan with health care providers, evaluation of medical conditions, coordination of medical resources, monitoring the employee’s progress following disease, illness or injury and communicating health care needs to the employees, in order to achieve optimum quality care delivered in a cost-effective manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage many varieties of medical/disability cases from initiation to closure including data collection and analysis, appropriate assessment, formulating a nursing diagnosis, interfacing with providers, developing a plan of action and coordinating all aspects of a claim.
- Interface with Manager/Supervisors, safety personnel, Human Resources, benefits, plant management, and employee relations regarding case resolution, as well as outside physicians and health care providers.
- Coordinate Return to Work/Fit for Duty exams and restricted job programs including collaboration with outside physicians and health care providers for both occupational and non-occupational related illness, and injury.
- Verify medical reasons for employee absences and follow-up after absences from work due to injury or illness, with and without FMLA.
- Evaluation of results for each employee and adjustment of their care plan.
- Evaluation of overall program effectivene4ss and adjustments of the program.
- Create/maintain logs and reports for Short Term Disability, Return to work, FMLA (if required), Injuries and Workers’ Compensation cases.
- Track and analyze injury and illness metrics and recommend process improvements.
- Maintain complete medical records for all employee interactions.
- Maintain patient privacy and medical record confidentiality.
- Communicate with employees and management on health and safety issues.
- Participate in committees involving health, safety, and/or disability issues.
- Assist with assessing and tracing of infectious diseases within the workplace.
Qualifications
Education/Licenses
- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a valid RN license.
- California RN license a plus, not required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing is highly preferred.
- Must hold current BLS certification.
- 5 - 10 years' experience in Occupational Health required.
- COHN required.
