Job Description

Responsible for all aspects of News Field Operations and associated technologies.

• Work closely with News, Operations and Management to support daily newsgathering efforts.
• Assist with logistical and technical planning of all remote productions including site surveys.
• Train, mentor, and provide constant feedback to our photojournalists.
• Motivate and develop photojournalists while driving new technology.
• Ability to assist photojournalists in basic troubleshooting of cameras, editing and live shots.
• Coordinate and track repair of gear and News Fleet as needed.
• Research, recommend and budget new technologies related to newsgathering.
• Plan the efficient use of departmental resources to achieve the goals of the station and achieve departmental goals.
• Implement new technical workflows to maximize efficiency while reducing flaws.
• Drive news vehicles to and from mechanic as needed.
• Participate in daily editorial meetings.
• Participate in newsgathering call and provide periodic status reports on initiatives.
• Work to develop synergies between our various stations.
• Work on projects as assigned.
• Adhere to company EHS standards.
• On-call 24/7/365

Qualifications

• 4+ Years working in news operations or as a photojournalist.
• 4+ Years working in a newsroom environment.
• In-depth understanding of transmission technologies (CBNG / IPNG / KU-IP / MW)
• In-depth knowledge of Adobe Premiere
• In-depth knowledge of newsgathering workflows including P2
• In-depth operational knowledge of cameras including full size ENG and mirrorless.
• Basic proficiency in MS Office Apps including Excel.
• Basic understanding of digital video codecs.
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced news environment.
• Strong Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills.
• Great leadership, coaching, and communication skills.
• Ability to lift 35 pounds of gear.
• Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S.
• Ability to work both as a team and independently.
• Must be self-motivated, collaborative, well organized and detail oriented.
• Salary Range: 125k-175k/annually
