Work-Life Balance & Schedule

  • Status: Per Diem / PRN
  • Hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
  • Commitment: Approximately 8–24 hours per week based on center needs.

Your Clinical Impact

As an essential member of our oncology team, you will be responsible for the delivery of life-changing treatments:

  • Treatment Delivery: Accurately administer prescribed radiation doses with a focus on safety and patient comfort.
  • Technical Expertise: Operate specialized equipment, including CT(s), and perform minor troubleshooting and laser alignment to ensure machine accuracy.
  • Patient Care: Monitor patients for reactions throughout their course of treatment and provide clear, compassionate communication to patients and their families.
  • Documentation: Maintain meticulous medical records and machine fault reports within the EMR system to ensure 100% compliance and safety.

What We Are Looking For

  • Certification: You must be ARRT Certified in Radiation Therapy and hold a current state license.
  • Safety: Current BLS Certification is required (ACLS is preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum of 6 months of hands-on experience or equivalent training in a Radiation Oncology setting.
  • Skills: Strong analytical skills, a high level of detail orientation, and the ability to remain calm and professional in a busy clinical environment.

GENERAL SUMMARY


The Radiation Therapist Is an essential member of the Radiation Oncology team who primarily functions in a specialized area of radiation therapy technology in the role of direct patient care provider in the Radiation Oncology Center. The Radiation Therapist is responsible for the performance of all duties relating to the administration of a prescribed course of Radiation Therapy. The Radiation Therapist must be able to understand and carry out complex medical prescriptions and be able to work under pressure. Furthermore, the Radiation Therapist must be able to communicate verbally in a clear and concise manner to personnel, patients, and physicians, and be task and detail oriented. Most importantly, the Radiation Therapist provides quality patient care in relation to the patient's prescribed diagnosis and treatment needs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Accurately and efficiently reviews and/or administers daily prescribed Radiation Therapy treatments to patients assigned to the treatment unit at a speed consistent with patient scheduling.
  • Observes and adheres to all department policies concerning Radiation Therapy treatment procedures.
  • Prepares room and equipment for patient by gathering all necessary equipment, supplies, and setup devices.
  • Sets appropriate treatment unit parameters.
  • Activates the treatment unit and delivers the prescribed dose of radiation.
  • Maintains visual and/or audible communication with the patient during treatment.
  • Obtains appropriate port films on patients when prescribed; makes adjustments in field placement as needed.
