We are looking for a customer-focused and detail-oriented Intern to join our Global Networks Team and work on developing tools and documentation to secure our Global Network.
You will work directly with our Global Networks Team and other subject matter experts and stakeholders to understand networking needs of our users and business functions that are dispersed across 100+ countries all over the world. You will be part of a team focused on ensuring that we continue to provide robust network connectivity needed to support Syngenta’s mission to end global hunger.

This position is available in our Illinois locations in Downer’s Grove or Chicago, but can be partially remote.
Estimated Duration: May 2023-August 2023
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Work with the various teams within the division, ranging from Service Desk, Engineers, and Architects
- Receive mentorship from various peer team members, as well as the opportunity to openly interact with internal clients
- Complete a checklist of different tasks to accomplish
- Reviewing solution designs and discuss with our Technical leads
- Design and document networking solutions
- Participate on projects, document use cases, understand requirements, develop test cases
- Engage business stakeholders to translate business needs into technical requirements
- Manage and execute small projects and maintenance activities
- Develop DR Test cases, document results and help refine and enhance DR Plans for the Network Infrastructure
- Use monitoring and other networking tools to report on network performance, capacity usage and latency
A day in the life
- Partner with Network team to review operations for Networking
- Discuss solutions and options for common problems with team
- Implement scripts and performs tasks associated with ensuring that network equipment continues to run securely
- Participate in the Testing of the DR Plans for the WAN Networking
About the team
The Global Networks team manages the network services across the globe – both on the Wide Area Network as well local networks at Syngenta’s cites in 100+ countries across the world.
Qualifications
Skillset
- Interest in or Knowledge of Network Operations Technology
- Understand concepts for DNS and Active Directory design, DHCP, IPAM and related topics
- Experience with concepts of Computer Communications and Computer Networks
- An understanding of Firewalls and their functions.
- Basic familiarity with other network devices and functions (SSL Terminators, Load Balancers etc.)
- Interest in or Knowledge of AWS and Azure Networking
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively convey technical information to non-technical colleagues and client
- Strong interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize
- Currently enrolled in a BS or MA degree program in Computer Science or related technical fields
