The salary for this position is $28.28 hourly.

Thurston County Public Works is recruiting for a Seasonal Engineering Technician I for our Design Engineering work group to support project delivery. Specific tasks include assisting design with basic activities on capital projects during construction. 

Essential Functions may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assist civil engineers in preparing road, bridge, utility and stormwater plans, including all plan specifications and estimate preparation, alignment determination, design computations, drainage and pavement design, geometrics, capacity and cost estimates.
  • Perform general engineering calculations, drafting, testing, data/material collection, database maintenance, analysis and related reporting or report preparation.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work Environment – Quiet office setting in Olympia, Washington and outdoors. May be exposed to a variety of weather conditions.
  • Travel Requirements - Occasional travel will be required to attend meetings or trainings. Travel to worksite locations may be required.
  • Customer Interactions - Frequent interactions with Thurston County staff and the public.
