Lead DevOps Engineer (AWS)

We are seeking an experienced Sr. DevOps Engineer to join our team and be able to lead a team of engineers to design, implement and maintain our cloud infrastructure. You will work closely with our software development team to provide technical guidance, support them, and assist in mentoring.

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership and guidance to a team of offshore software engineers working on the development, testing, and maintenance of microservices in AWS ECS using DynamoDB, SQS, SES, IAM, Aurora, Secrets Manager, and other AWS services.
• Designing and implementing a scalable and highly available cloud infrastructure.
• Develop and maintain automated deployment, configuration and monitoring tools.
• Oversee the continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) process using Bitbucket Pipelines and ensure seamless integration with Jira project management.
• Mentor and coach the engineering team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
• Ensure security, compliance and disaster recovery requirements are met.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, and other stakeholders to define and refine requirements, set priorities, and deliver high-quality software on schedule.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and lead the implementation of necessary changes.
• Act as a point of contact for technical issues, providing solutions and escalating when necessary.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience; a Master's degree is a plus.
• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, with a strong focus on building cloud-native SaaS applications.
• Proven experience working with AWS services, particularly ECS, DynamoDB, SQS, SES, IAM, Aurora, and Secrets Manager.
• Terraform Infrastructure-as-Code experience.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture, design patterns, and best practices.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD processes, particularly with Bitbucket Pipelines and Jira.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively mentor and manage offshore engineers.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think analytically and strategically.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Bash.
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

Nice-to-haves:

• Expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, and Node.js; experience with NestJS framework and Angular is a strong advantage.
• Strong understanding of The Twelve-Factor App (12factor.net)
• AWS certification(s) is a plus.
• Experience working with offshore teams or in a remote environment.
