<h2>About the job</h2> <p>The Red Hat JBoss Web Server Software Engineering team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join us in the Czech Republic. In this role, you will build and maintain the Red Hat JBoss Web Server (JWS) and Red Hat JBoss Core Services (JBCS) products; Red Hat’s builds of Apache Tomcat and the Apache HTTP Server (httpd). You will also maintain packages related to Apache Tomcat and Apache HTTP Server that are shipped in the Fedora Project and Red Hat Enterprise Linux repositories. We are a highly distributed, mostly remote, team across multiple countries and time zones. As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll need to be a passionate developer with a growth mindset and the ability to adapt, solve problems, and learn as you go to deliver our products. You'll work with our Product Security team, upstream communities of users and other developers, our Customer Support team, and our Quality Engineering (QE) team to deliver a quality product to our customers. This is an excellent opportunity to craft and hone your skills while working with a wide range of modern languages, frameworks and technologies, including Golang, C, Java, Kubernetes, OpenShift, and Red Hat's extensive portfolio of cloud-native Middleware products.You can find more information about the projects the team is currently working on by visiting the following links:</p> <p>https://github.com/apache/httpd</p> <p>https://github.com/apache/tomcat</p> <h2>What you will do</h2> <ul> <li>Help to maintain packages including Apache httpd modules and tomcat for Fedora, CentOS Stream, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)</li> <li>Contribute to open source projects such as Apache httpd, Apache Tomcat, Fedora Project, and CentOS Stream</li> <li>Use a comprehensive, standard set of tools, including Git repositories, Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform playbooks, Slack and email, and issue tracking, to collaborate and communicate with your teammates and with the community</li> <li>Develop patches and reproducers for JWS and JBCS which includes the production of fixes and reproducers for Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) on Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows platforms</li> <li>Mentor other team members and interns</li> <li>Submit to, and present on, your work at community conferences to raise the visibility of our work and promote our open source way of working</li> </ul> <h2>What you will bring</h2> <ul> <li>Strong knowledge of Linux (Fedora or RHEL is a plus) and containers</li> <li>Strong knowledge of C or Java, and the supporting toolset</li> <li>Experience with scripting using Bash, Python, or Groovy</li> <li>Experience using Git with a developer platform like GitLab, GitHub, or Pagure</li> <li>Knowledge of application and/or web servers (specifically Apache Tomcat and the Apache HTTP Server)</li> <li>Experience with RPM packaging is a big plus</li> <li>A passion for Open Source and open collaboration best practices</li> <li>Experience with bug tracking tools (Jira and Bugzilla)</li> <li>Knowledge of CI/CD</li> <li>Good English written and verbal communication skills</li> </ul> <p>#LI-KS1</p>
