Description

 

This is a benefited, full time position generally working Monday-Friday either from 7:30am-4pm or 8am-4:30pm. No weekends or holidays. Hours will vary as needed. Located at Scripps Clinic Torrey Pines in La Jolla. You will float between the surgical specialites at this location.

Your job duties:

  • Rooming patients
  • Checking vitals
  • Assisting with procedures
  • Clinic prep assisting with Provider specific protocols
  • Predominantly back-office responsibilities but is expected to help with front-office duties on an as-needed basis
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment
  • Organizes and performs patient care services that support the physician’s practice
  • Relaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person
  • Collecting patient data in person and by phone
  • Documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review
  • Administering medications specifically directed by the physician
  • Scheduling of appointments and procedures
  • Complete and accurate message taking
  • Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction
  • Order and referral entry
  • Acquisition of pre-certifications
  • Setting up of cases in EPIC for appointments for clinical, lab, imaging and more
  • Basic registration and updating of demographics

Qualifications

 

Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:

  • Certified Medical Assistant or Military Corpsman, plus two years applicable clinical experience.
  • Requires excellent skills in communication, problem-solving, team development, planning and follow-through.
  • Ability to exercise the authority and responsibility for assigned services based on the scope of the organization and complexity of patient care.
