Senior Program Manager- FinTech

As the athenaIT (aIT) Fintech Senior Program Manager, you will be a member of the Fintech leadership team, will directly support the Executive Director of Fintech, and oversee a complex portfolio of initiatives. You’ll be responsible for ensuring well-defined vision, scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria for Fintech operational and technical programs. You will regularly collaborate and communicate with senior and executive leaders, stakeholders, and project teams to ensure transparency and alignment on program status, budget to burn, resourcing requirements, risks, benefits, and the necessary change management efforts. You will also be the primary Fintech aIT Project Management Office (PMO) liaison. In this capacity, you will be responsible for ensuring Fintech’s interests are expressed to ensure Fintech’s alignment with the PMO’s best practices. The efficient operation of FinTech and it’s programs directly contribute to athenahealth's overall growth and success.
Responsibilities
For everything listed below, proactivity and process improvement are essential parts of the role. This role is responsible for proactively acting on things that need to be done with limited direction and having an eye towards the future. A high level of confidence, tenacity, and self-motivation coupled with a continued desire to improve over maintaining the status quo is essential.
Oversight of Fintech Programs:
- Hands-on leadership of specific Fintech programs/projects, which involves taking full ownership for bringing an initiative to successful completion.
- Leverage a consistent project management methodology. While leading, providing regular directions, coaching, and feedback to teams.
- Plan and coordinate program activities, such as budgeting, resourcing, scheduling, monitoring, reporting, and controlling.
- Develop clear, unambiguous program and project documentation, including, vision, problems, and scope statements, objectives, deliverables, success criteria, roles and responsibilities, etc.
- Define, develop, and maintain program/project work breakdown structures, project plans, and leadership scorecards.
- Facilitate leadership reviews of active programs/projects. Prepare all review materials and pre-review activities necessary to deliver high quality senior and executive updates and discussion.
- Continuously look for ways to improve on Fintech’s delivery.
Fintech Operations:
- Support Executive Director in the effective planning, coordination, and organization of all essential operations information and materials.
- Act as the primary FinTech aIT PMO liaison.
- Regularly attend and participate in the aIT CE&O Monthly Ops meeting.
- Facilitate quarterly Fintech program backlog review and resourcing discussions.
- Serve as FinTech’s subject matter expert on the athenaIT Roadmap tool, which serves as IT's Cross-Departmental Project Portfolio tracker.
- Frequently act as a SCRUM Leader.
- As a leader in the FinTech team, regularly present and share project management best practices during quarterly FinTech all-hands meetings.
Budget & Vendor Management:
- Participate in the annual budgeting processes
- Ensure Sourcing controls are followed pertaining to project spend
- Ensure project budget reviews are accurate and transparent.
Qualifications
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Experience:
- Proven experience in IT leadership roles with demonstrated ability to interact with and present to the Senior and Executive levels.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies; Project management certification desired.
- Demonstrated history of being self-directed; high levels of self-motivation is essential.
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure and systems; Experience with Finance technology preferred
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, driving accountability without direct authority.
- Strong analytical, judgement, and decision making, including the ability to get a good sense for when to include Executive Director on topics and what to run with independently.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and people at many levels in the organization.
- Willingness, drive, and interest to learn new things.
- Strong Excel and/or reporting skills (such as PowerBI) preferred.
- Experience with IT general controls and working with financials and budgets preferred.
