Transportation Analyst

The Transportation Analyst job focuses on analyzing transportation data from internal final mile logistics and external partners, including third-party logistics providers, international carriers, customs brokers, and drayage companies. The goal is to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure regulatory compliance. Responsibilities include coordinating global shipments, preparing documentation, maintaining accurate records, and analyzing the flow of goods—both temperature-controlled and dry—across borders. The role also involves identifying market trends, recommending improvements, and collaborating with stakeholders to develop and implement transportation strategies. Compliance with FISMA standards is required. Additionally, this position supports multiple global and environmental initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities

• Define and implement regional procurement strategy for the North America Region (US, Mexico, Canada), considering regional and country-specific needs and circumstances
• Responsible for analyzing transportation data, including freight lane patterns, costs, and third-party carrier performance, to identify opportunities, root causes, and areas for improvement
• Develop and implement strategies to optimize transportation networks, including final mile route planning, and mode selection types (land, ocean, air, rail)
• Identify opportunities to reduce transportation costs through efficient resource allocation and process improvements
• Responsible for establishing and maintaining transportation KPIs to track delivery and pickup performance metrics, such as delivery times (OTIF), cost per mile, customer satisfaction, demurrage, and others
• Preparing reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to management and other stakeholders within the organization
• Work with internal and external stakeholders, including third party logistics vendors, logistics managers, transportation drayage companies, international carriers (ocean, air, over the road), and Customs brokers to implement solutions and ensure smooth logistics operations
• Responsible for supporting contract analysis and RFP process
• Responsible for identifying and resolving transportation-related issues, such as delays, damages, or discrepancies
• Responsible for claims management, tracking and notifying corresponding stakeholders, and communicating or challenging corrective actions until claims are closed
• Ensuring all import and export activities adhere to relevant laws, regulations, and trade agreements. This includes understanding and applying U.S. Customs Regulations
• Prepares and reviews import/export documentation as needed, such as international invoices, customs declarations, and maintaining accurate records
• Collaborating with external partners (customs brokers, freight forwarders, suppliers, customers)
• Analyzing import/export market trends, trade patterns, and logistics data to identify areas for improvement and cost reduction.
• Ensures immediate and on-time communication and escalation of any transportation issues.
• Responsible for one point of communication between warehouse location and all other cross functional stakeholders (customer service, procurement, sales operations management and external carriers, including our third-party logistics partner
• Managing the day-to-day transportation activity and inventory management, systemic (SAP) receiving, picking, and generating the Goods Issue (PGI) and Goods Receipt (PGR) with external warehouses such as (Lineage – Dallas TX., Midwest Refrigerated Services, LTL Services) or any other
• Responsible for 3PL monthly inventory reconciliation and reporting and maintaining 3PL expense and throughput KPIs
• Ensures 3PL inventory claims are investigated and reconciled in a timely manner
• Lead and/or support any other assigned projects such as Customs UPS project, Duty Draw Back and CO2 programs, internal TMS implementation and any other transportation technologies projects

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in a relevant discipline: Supply Chain, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or other related fields
• 3 – 5 years of experience in managing the flow of goods across borders
