PURPOSE OF POSITION

To supervise and control Fryer Production functions in a manner conducive to promoting a consistent high quality product at the least cost on Foster Farms PNW company owned and contract ranches.

This position requires a self-motivated individual who is able to manage constant change, multiple schedules and tasks and can provide consistent support of the company’s policies and values when confronted by distressed contract growers and employees.  This employee must be able to independently develop and persistently execute programs for growers, employees and support areas within the company and must be willing to accept responsibility for their actions. 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

Implementing and controlling field compliance with grow out, disease prevention, and quality programs.

Coordinating with and informing technical, personnel, administrative, service, and other managers of any information that could affect their decisions or influence bird performance.

  • Maintain all American Humane certification requirements - 15%
  • Development and submission of proposals, budgets, and projections for fryer and production facilities and activities - 5%
  • Maintain good inter-company, growers and community relations - 10%
  • Maintain good employer/employee relations within area of responsibility -10%

Develop and manage:

  • Educate growers throughout contract and growout operational changes
  • Develop and Implement Grower housing specifications with Manager
  • Consistent Grow-out house management programs – develop and implement with Manager
  • Medication treatments – approval from veterinarian and management / independent execution
  • Purchases – independent with in guidelines of budgets and management direction
  • Communication of chick placement schedule changes – independent with in guidelines of IMR
  • Communication of bird shipping schedules – independent with in guidelines of IMR
  • Oversee construction of consistent new contract, grow-out housing construction – With approval of Manager
  • Subordinate employee and Grower discipline up to termination – With approval and total involvement of Manager
  • Major capital projects – develop independently / approval by corporate / execute with Manager
  • Safety programs and training – Corporate direction / independent development and execution
  • Environmental programs and training – Corporate direction / independent development and execution
  • Any employee issues in the grow-out department – With approval and involvement of Manager
  • Animal welfare programs and training - Corporate direction /execution with Manager
  • Grower/Company relationships and conflict management -Independently

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

  • Internally: Regular contact with Field supervisors, Feed mill management, hatchery management, live haul, scheduling, processing plants, purchasing and accounting.
  • Externally:  Daily contact and interactions with vendors and Growers.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Animal science, Ag-business, or related field preferred.
  • Prefer a minimum 3-5 years of production or supervisory experience.
  • Must have strong communications and supervisory skills, be task oriented and able to work in an unsupervised env
