Perioperative Support Specialist 1

Inova Fair Oaks Hospital is looking for a Perioperative Support Specialist 1 to work in a fast paced, team oriented environment assisting with patient care while working along side nursing staff to retrieve and deliver supplies, instruments and equipment to our operating rooms.  This position is full time Monday – Friday evening shift.

Responsibilities: 

• Assists with the gathering, installation, removal, and cleaning of equipment while utilizing the operating room schedule to anticipate requests.
• Gathers and packs instruments and sterile supplies for scheduled and added cases to provide efficient procedure set up of surgical cases.
• Completes case preparation for all emergency, add-on, and scheduled cases as evidenced by the presence of a completed case cart. Performs monthly checks on Emergency case cart. 
• Independently accesses the OR computer system, correctly selects the preference card(s) and prints as needed as evidenced by lack of assistance needed during the process.
• Places returned and new supplies and instruments in the correct location as evidenced by their proper placement; monitoring supply levels and obtains needed supplies or reports deficiencies to Perioperative Support Supervisor as evidenced by the lack of unreported missing items.

Requirements for consideration:

• At least 1 (one) year of experience in healthcare setting or inventory/ equipment management
• BLS within 3 months
