About the role:
The corporate Operations Performance & Planning organization exists to support and coordinate the company’s efforts to continuously improve performance, advance sustainably, reduce complexity, and drive results.
Within the Operations Risk Management (ORM) department, the role of Regional Operations Risk Manager is a key function within an emerging risk management team that will engage and support key stakeholders across the world to identify, assesses, analyze, and control material operational risk in their businesses.
We are looking for an experienced risk management professional that has the passion and demonstrated ability to help Alcoa advance risk management maturity. The Regional Risk Manager plays a lead role in supporting and facilitating regional risk activities, analyzing and communicating risk management performance, developing and deploying ORM program requirements, and driving continual improvement.
As part of a small and focused team, the Regional Operational Risk Manager will build positive relationships with leaders through front-line employees to effectively balance support and governance responsibilities.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide subject matter expertise to regional teams as they identify, analyze, evaluate, control, and monitor all material operational risks.
- Facilitate risk assessments and provide practical input into regional and location risk management activities with a focus on quality and consistency.
- Promote regional ownership and provide training to encourage confidence and commitment amongst ORM stakeholders.
- Foster a culture of risk-informed decision making.
- Develop, manage, and maintain all global ORM leading & lagging risk management performance metrics, and drive application within regions.
- Distil global and regional risk management performance information into actionable intelligence, create innovative and fit-for-purpose summaries, and routinely communicate to leadership.
- Administer Alcoa’s cloud-based risk register system (CGR) and be a single point of contact for system knowledge and education.
- Conduct audits and analyze results to highlight opportunities to improve ORM conformance.
- Advance and deploy corporate risk management standards and processes, and provide input into cross-functional risk management activities.
- Collaborate with other functional groups to improve alignment and drive consistent application of risk management principals across the globe.
- Keep up to date on risk management innovations, industry practices, and industry events/incidents.
What you can bring to this role:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Management, or related fields
- Strong understanding of Operational Risk Management principles (ISO 31000-based)
- 5 to 10 years of demonstrated ability in risk management within a manufacturing, processing, or operational environment.
- Organized, detailed, analytical, and critical thinker.
- Self-starter capable and comfortable leading and facilitating multi-national teams to assess and analyze risks.
- Fully proficient in the English language, verbal and written.
- Availability to virtually engage with time zones in North America, South America, Europe, and Australia.
- Availability to travel (25-50%).
