About this role

What will you be responsible for?
Newmont is seeking a Security supervisor to provide direct oversight of the CC&V security management plan and security team. This role reports directly to the CC&V Health, Safety and Security Manager with daily coordination and interaction with the CC&V Security team, frequent coordination with site leadership and occasionally with regional security supervisors.

Here is a snapshot of what your day-to-day will look like:
•Responsible for ensuring security systems are in place and effective to minimize risk to the company by identifying, evaluating, monitoring, and controlling all security risks at the mine site. 
•Supervise all security elements of critical production areas including production, sampling, storage, and shipment of products.
•Ensure all Security personnel are trained and are following the CC&V security management plan by monitoring and assessing compliance against the plan.
•Manage the Security workforce and rosters to ensure sufficient resources are always available to implement the security plan. 
•Conduct workplace security threat assessments and security audits to determine if current controls are effective to prevent loss to the company.
•Conduct security gap assessments and drills to assess security procedures and protocol effectiveness.
•Conduct periodic security training for the security team and employees.
•Make determinations based on security analysis and prepare reports for management review with recommendations where required.
•Ensure the department’s compliance with security, environmental, health and safety and social legislation and company regulations. 
•Ensure visitors and business partners comply with MSHA regulations before accessing the mine site.
•Ensure effective controls are in place and monitored for the entry and exit of personnel and materials.
•Provide recommendations to management on improving security protocols where necessary.

Your Training, Skills & Experience

Here is what we need to see from you!
Education:
•Tertiary education / professional certification in Security management (bachelor’s degree or minimum of six (6) years related experience in a security supervisory role). 
•CPR / AED certification.
Experience:
•Training and experience in identifying and analyzing different types of vulnerabilities in security infrastructure, networks, systems, and procedures.
•Investigation and root cause analysis training.
•Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights (VPs) training and education.
•Experience in developing and implementing security systems and procedures. 
•Thorough understanding of mining terminology and mine security operations.
•Conflict resolution training.
•Experience in emergency response and crisis management systems.
•Good knowledge of MSHA safety & health regulations.
•Law enforcement or prior military service is an asset.
•Intermediate knowledge of spreadsheets, databases & word processing programs.
Skills and Abilities:
•Ability to apply judgment and knowledge to suggest solutions to complex problems, recognizing trends, patterns and relationships when analyzing information.
•Excellent communications and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work with diverse groups and personalities.
•Self-confident, motivated, and strong leadership and organizational skills.

Working Conditions & Location

•This position is located at our Cripple Creek & Victor Mine Site near Cripple Creek, CO.
•The work environment is located above 10,000 ft. which requires working at high altitudes. The successful candidate must pass a high-altitude medical assessment.
