Role Description

The Site Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Leader will lead and continuously improve the EHS program for our Massachusetts (MA) operations. This position plays a critical role in enabling Form Energy to pursue rapid technical progress while maintaining a safety-first commitment. The ideal candidate has extensive EHS experience in an R&D setting and can interface across the MA sites to improve policies and programs, processes, and culture that enables a safe working environment while addressing the needs of the company. 

The Site EHS Leader will report directly to Form Energy’s Senior EHS Manager and will assume oversight of the existing MA EHS operations. The role supports existing R&D and scale-up activities aligning local operating EHS programs and practices with corporate policies and expectations. A critical aspect of the position is to provide EHS support for R&D activities. What you'll do:

  • Build and manage relationships, form consensus and coordinate with internal, cross-functional partners to develop and implement cost effective EHS solutions that strengthen a culture of EHS excellence.

  • Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, and continuous improvement of EHS programs, procedures, processes, and training programs across multiple internal stakeholders.

  • Build, develop, and lead a team of professionals responsible for site EHS support and activities.

  • Ensure day-to-day compliance with EHS policies, regulations, and applicable standards through observations, audits, and inspections.

  • Oversee the development of hazard assessments and job safety analyses and ensure mitigation plans are adequate.

  • Facilitate root cause analysis and determination of corrective or preventive measures for incidents and near-misses, as well as ensuring that corrective actions have been implemented.

  • Support environmental permitting, safety reviews, and end of life plans associated with R&D, pilot testing, and infrastructure projects.

What you'll bring:

  • At least 10+ years of experience in environmental health and safety roles, preferably in an R&D environment, with at least 3 to 5 years in site leadership.

  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA, DOT, environmental and safety-related federal, state, and local regulations, laws, and standards. ISO 45001/14001 and PSM experience a plus. 

  • Direct knowledge of regulatory requirements and safety practices for hazardous chemicals and waste at large scale.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret governmental regulations.

  • Creative EHS solutions for non-standard processes to develop solutions for first of a kind EHS challenges.

  • A demonstrated track record of proactively identifying needs, and then creating, resourcing, and leading execution of plans to fulfill those needs.

  • A demonstrated track record of guiding EHS improvements as well as expert-level experience with new process hazard assessments, root cause analysis, and program and training development and implementation.

  • Ability to understand the needs of stakeholders and influence positive change at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to work well in cross-disciplinary project teams to deliver timely results.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and observation skills. 

  • Comfort working in dynamic environments, including being able to work well under pressure.

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in engineering, occupational health & safety, environmental, or other relevant technical discipline from an accredited school.

  • BCSP (CSP, CIH, CHMM), DOT, and RCRA certifications preferred.
