WSP is seeking a full-time Senior Electrical Engineer - Buildings for their Irvine, California office. This opportunity involves being part of our deeply experienced Healthcare Team in Southern California.

Your Impact
Responsibilities Include (with guidance from senior staff):
- Project/Financial Management – working within project budgets.
- Business Development – maintaining client relationships.
- Client Interaction.
- Collaborate with internal (local, national and international) and external client team members.
- Work as an individual or as part of a cross-functional team of engineers to execute project work on multiple concurrent projects.
Technical and Design Responsibilities (with guidance from senior staff):
- Service utility coordination.
- Power distribution.
- Lighting and lighting controls.
- Fire alarm.
- Grounding systems.
- Low voltage infrastructure.
- Emergency power systems.
- UPS design.
- Coordination with city and state permitting agencies.
- Creation of project drawings and specifications.
- Oversee Construction administration.
- Follow WSP’s quality control process.
- Mentoring staff and sharing knowledge.
- Support senior engineers with research and recommendations of components identified in design requirements.
- Remain current in latest electrical engineering techniques and practices.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
- 5-7 years’ experience designing electrical systems for the built environment.
- Experience in the healthcare industry with HCAi experience.
- PE and/or LEED.
- Project experience submitted for consideration should include buildings on which you have actively participated in the project from the design phase through the final construction close-out.
- Experience managing small to mid-size projects.
- Interest in a wide range of market sectors – such as commercial, life sciences, high-rise residential, aviation, retail, etc.
- Excellent verbal and technical written communication skills, with an emphasis on the ability to organize and present design information to clients.
- Strong working knowledge of electrical engineering principles, practices, processes, design/build, design/bid/build and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.
- Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies.
- Special consideration will be given to those candidates who have successfully demonstrated innovative design experience specifically related to renewable energies and sustainable, high performing buildings.
- Strong working knowledge of relevant engineering and electrical construction standards, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
- Strong working knowledge of ETAP.
- Strong working knowledge of Revit.
- Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Compensation
Expected Salary (all locations): $99,800 - $145,530
