Job Title: L&C – Corporate Attorney, AVP

                   

Job Description:       

The Legal & Compliance department seeks an attorney with at least 3 years of experience to support the Blackstone Credit & Insurance (BXCI) business, with a focus on investment management services provided to insurance companies.

Blackstone Insurance Solutions   

Blackstone Insurance Solutions (BIS) delivers Blackstone’s investment management expertise to insurers, helping those firms meet long-term policyholder obligations and drive shareholder value. BIS partners with insurers to deliver customizable and diversified portfolios of Blackstone products from our credit, real estate, and alternatives platforms, as well as the option for full, outsourced management of insurance companies’ investment portfolios. 

The attorney will work on a variety of legal-related matters involving the BXCI business, while also working in coordination with other Blackstone business unit legal teams. Primary areas of responsibility would include:

  • Legal matters related to Blackstone’s general account insurance clients, including investment structuring and support, investment management agreement negotiation and monitoring, insurance regulatory considerations, and coordination with underlying Blackstone business units that sub-manage insurance client accounts with respect to certain asset classes

  • Transactional support, including with respect to Advisers Act and other regulatory matters, of the investment teams on a broad range of investments, including public and private credit, asset-based finance, traded and private real estate debt and private fund investments

  • Transactional support relating to M&A activity focused on insurance companies

  • Liaising with outside counsel, operations, finance, tax, government relations/public affairs, fund formation and compliance teams on a variety of matters, including client disclosures, transaction negotiations, regulatory matters and LP and co-investor matters

           

Qualifications:          

Blackstone seeks to hire individuals who are highly motivated, intelligent, and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors. The successful candidate should have:

  • At least 3 years of directly related experience as an attorney in a leading law firm’s private fund or credit group or with a credit-focused asset manager.

  • An understanding of credit instruments and assets (e.g., public debt securities, loan syndications, CLOs and other asset-based financing, direct lending, mortgage loans) is a strong plus

  • Knowledge of insurance regulatory issues is not required, but a strong plus

  • An undergraduate degree and a law degree are required, strong academic record

  • Demonstrated ability to write effectively

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Strong communication skills
