Position Overview
The Industrial Services Hygienist position is an integral part of Illinois OSHA’s mission to ensure safe and healthy working conditions by assisting employers with complying with occupational safety and health standards and providing training, outreach, education, and assistance to employers and employees throughout Illinois. Our vision is to be an occupational safety and health resource which is realized through timely, practical, useful, courteous, and professional services, all of which is built on the premise that occupational deaths, injuries, and illnesses can be prevented.
Essential Functions
- Conducts on-site consultation visits at workplaces to assess compliance with occupational safety and health standards with a focus on industrial hygiene.
- Travels to conduct walk-throughs of the work sites, observing work practices and operation processes to identify occupational hazards and determine sampling strategies.
- Performs noise and air sampling surveys and utilizes other technical field equipment.
- Prepares the case file for review and submits a technical report to the business establishment documenting the
survey including sampling techniques, methods, sampling results, and hazards identified and corrective action recommendations. - Attends meetings, conferences, and training sessions for the purpose of updating knowledge and skill
