Summary of Job Duties:

The successful candidate will be required to assist in the implementation of soil fertility field trials across the state of Arkansas on University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture Experiment Stations as well as commercial production fields. The candidate will be responsible for managing field plots, supervising graduate students and hourly workers, taking notes, planting, applying treatments, collecting plant samples, and harvesting field trials. The selected candidate will be required to help prepare fertilizer treatments by treating with inhibitor products and weighing out treatments for field application. In some cases, seed treatment will also be included as needed. In addition to fieldwork, the candidate will be required to help as needed in the laboratory with plant and soil sample preparation and analysis. There will be some data entry and, depending on specific projects, some data interpretation and report generation.


Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications:

B.S. in agronomy, soil science, plant science, agribusiness, or a related discipline plus three years of related professional experience or a M.S. in agronomy, soil science, plant science, agribusiness or a related discipline. Previous experience with small-plot research management and plant and soil sampling is required.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience in basic statistics, conducting field trials in corn, cotton, rice, soybean, wheat, and cover crops. Additionally, the candidate will need some basic background in laboratory methods such as soil and plant sample preparation, pesticide application, fertilizer application, farm equipment operation, and basic com
