VP Projects
SkyNRGAbout the role
At SkyNRG, we’re not just building projects—we’re building the foundations of a cleaner, more sustainable future for aviation. As VP Projects, you’ll play a pivotal role in professionalizing our project portfolio, setting up world-class project governance and controls, and steering the development of our major capital projects from concept to execution.
About the role
You’ll be the strategic and operational leader responsible for developing SkyNRG’s project management framework and driving our capital project portfolio toward successful execution. In the first 6 months, your focus will be on establishing project governance, controls, and standards across our organization, ensuring our teams and systems are ready to deliver on the ambitious goals of our projects (such as our DSL-01 project in the Netherlands, our Wigeon project in the USA, and our SkyKraft project in Sweden).
Once this foundation is in place, you will assume line accountability for our major projects, overseeing their progression through FEED, FID, and into execution. Your leadership will be instrumental in achieving critical project milestones and ensuring our assets are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. Your expertise in large, complex industrial or infrastructure projects (ideally in energy, refining, or renewable fuels) will help us build scalable, bankable projects that attract investment and accelerate decarbonization in aviation.
Your collaborative spirit will be crucial as you partner with colleagues across Technology, HSSE, Commercial, and corporate functions, becoming a key business ally for both our Executive Committee and our global project partners.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the SkyNRG Project Development and Execution Unit and setting and achieving the strategic objectives.
- As a leader, you will be coaching and mentoring your team for maximum performance and individual growth.
- Ensuring projects are delivered safely, sustainably, and with full alignment to SkyNRG’s strategic objectives.
- Leading an experienced team of Project and Commercial Directors that are together accountable to develop the business case and achieve FID. Thereafter, the Project Directors continue in the Execute phase.
- Providing functional oversight for technical leads of early-phase projects.
- Supporting tendering, contracting, and negotiation processes for EPC and technology licensing agreements.
- Managing relationships with key stakeholders including Joint Venture partners, lenders, permitting authorities, EPC contractors, and technology licensors.
- Whilst leading the Project Governance & Assurance team, you will be overseeing the development and implementation of best-in-class project governance, controls, and reporting frameworks across all SkyNRG projects.
- Overseeing the development and embedding of project standards, including a comprehensive Project Management System covering quality, change, interface, risk, schedule, and cost management.
- Acting as a member of the COO Leadership Team and project specific governance boards (e.g. DSL-01 Project Committee, SkyKraft JV Board).
Your profile
As a growing company in a rapidly developing industry, we’re looking for a leader who thrives on shaping systems, empowering teams, and guiding complex projects to success.
Ideally, you recognize yourself in the following:
- You are a seasoned project management professional with 20+ years’ experience delivering large-scale industrial or energy projects, including 5–7 years in executive project leadership roles.
- You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (in Chemical, Mechanical, or another relevant Engineering discipline), advanced degree preferred.
- You have demonstrated experience managing projects exceeding €1B, with deep knowledge of FEED, EPC, and execution phases.
- You possess a strong foundation in project governance, controls, risk management, and standardization.
- You have a proven record in EPC contracting, licensing, and project financing, with strong commercial and negotiation skills; experience from an owner’s perspective is a plus.
- You are a hands-on, results-driven leader who can work independently in a dynamic, scale-up environment.
- You have excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal skills, able to align diverse teams and interests.
- You are fluent in English (written and verbal) and eligible to work in the Netherlands; proficiency in Swedish is considered a plus.
Nice to have
- Professional certifications such as PMP or PE.
- Experience in biofuels, renewable energy, or oil & gas sectors.
- Familiarity with scale-up environments and their unique challenges.
